Born in Winnipeg July 9, 1953, Gary Lorne Kullman made his mark on the Manitoba golf scene in junior, amateur and mid-amateur divisions and made appearances on 14 provincial golf teams along the way.

Known to his buddies as Skinny, he played out of the Rossmere Country Club from 1964 to 1990 and again from 2005 to 2008 and was a member of Elmhurst Golf and Country Club from 1990 to 2005.

He won the Manitoba men’s amateur championship three times (1971, 1973 and 1976) and was winner of the Jack Blair Memorial trophy as Manitoba match play champion twice (1978,1979). He was the low amateur and winner of the Hal Eidsvig trophy at the Manitoba Open championship in 1991.

His Manitoba appearances began on the provincial junior men’s teams in 1970 and 1971, then on five men’s amateur teams (1976, 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1993) and seven mid-amateur teams (1993, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2002, 2004 and 2006).

He was a finalist in the voting for the Manitoba amateur golfer of the year award in 1976. Kullman was also a consistent performer in the annual North America Cup matches against Minnesota golfers, earning places on the Manitoba team eight times from 1993 to 2004 and in the annual Rural/City competitions in 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2003. He earned the most points in the former Manitoba Tour competition twice (1993 and 2001).
